What's In My Bag or my Planner Supplies Kit

4:38 PM

Naturally, I thought I'd do a What's in My Bag post since another trimester is beginning in my adventures as a post-graduate student. But after checking my Longchamp Le Pliage tote and finding that my Kipling 100 Pens case and the Carpe Diem organiser is taking up all the room (and this bag doesn't even include my Macbook Pro at all!), I decided to do a What's in My Pen Case post instead. As you can see, I've got three books, iPad Mini, Carpe Diem Planner, research printouts, and my trust Kipling pen case.

I've always loved Kipling Bags and this love dates all the way back to the 90s. I love the fact that it's light and water resistant. I've been caught in a downpour once and the contents of my Kipling bag was dry. When I got the case, I'm completely in love with the pattern and the colours. It's bright and fun. Of course, it holds as many items I want it to hold. And yes, it's stuffed with things I need for revisions, research, and of course planning. I'm currently working with two planners and have decided that I might need to pack around the extremely large Carpe Diem for research purposes whilst I still have the Personal Domino as my on the go and everyday planner.

Inside the case, I've put every single thing I would possibly need. Pilot Frixion markers, Pilot Frixion pens, Pilot Frixion Hilighters and  Staedtler ball point pens practically fill each and every one of those pen loops. I use these pens for revision notes and my planner.

The second tab contains all of my planner stamps, some Pilot Frixion pens, mechanical pencil, correction tape, stamping block, inkpads, and paper clips. I could downsize to one inkpad, but I love the colours and I do love colour in my otherwise black and white organiser.

Further inspection of the planner stamps, I've got my favourites from The Sweet Stamp Shop, Studio L2E, Kelly Purkey, and Technique Tuesday. It seems quite a lot for planner stamps, but I use them all. I don't bring washi tape with me. I'd rather keep those at home when I'm leisurely decorating and doing revision notes. It seems weird that I've got a planner supply kit when I'm doing my post-graduate studies online with CSU Dominguez Hills, but a lot of times, I make my way to the library to study or go to class. There's less distractions at the library such as the television and the kitchen!

There are some Christmas and Thanksgiving stamps in my collection and although the holidays are over, I still use some of the icons in the set for everyday planning such as the bake caption, camera, mail, and cocoa.

What about you? How much of your planner supplies do you carry?

What's In My Bag #3

4:37 PM

With summer already here in California and in full swing, I might as well do a "What's In My Bag" post.

I'm always changing what bag I use since I somewhat coordinate it with what I'm wearing or what I feel like using for a week or two. This summer (or at least part of it), I'm using my Kipling crossbody bag (not pictured). I like the bag since I can wear it over my shoulder and it's hands free. It's a medium sized bag, so I have to strategically think about what I'm going to put in it. Below are some of the things I like bringing with me during the summer.

1. Filofax Original A5 in Navy: This is a definite must for me. I plan my life in this organiser. I tried digital planning, but it just doesn't work for me. I love lists and I love crossing out things on my list. Plus, I can look at my schedule quicker than having to swipe.

2. iPhone 5: Also a must. What more do I need to say?

3. Roxy JBL headphones and battery pack. I always keep a pair of headphones with me since I love listening to music, especially this summer. I also keep a battery pack with me. I've had this since I got my iPhone 3Gs (and that's quite a while back) and it's been handy.

4. Coach Sunglasses. I'm pretty light sensitive, so I've got to have sunglasses with me at all times. This constantly changes since I have few pairs of them, so for now, I've got this one with me. The case is quite large and bulky and doesn't fit in my bag, so normally, I just leave the case in the car.

5. Pink Camo Knife. I didn't use to carry one, but I found it handy especially when dining at a Chinese restaurant. They don't quite cut up the vegetables in bite size pieces, so this comes in handy when I need to cut something up. Plus, you'll never know when you might need it to break something open.

6. Makeup Bag. In my makeup bag, I only carry my BareMinerals Mineral Veil, eye drops, Burt's Bee's tinted lip balm, EOS lip balm, anti bacterial and SPF 55 Neutrogena suncream. I don't like carrying an arsenal of makeup in my bag, since it gets quite heavy. Once I've applied my makeup, the only thing that would need touching up are my lips and face should it get shiny. I'm all about simplicity when it comes to the things I carry.

7. iPad Mini. Thankfully, it's a mini. I always carry this with me since it contains ebooks. I'm always reading so if I'm ever stuck at a doctor's or dentist's office, I have something to read.

8. Purse (or wallet as my friends call it). I love this purse that I've purchased from Target. Most purses have quite a few credit card slots and I don't quite fill all of it. I only have two credit cards, a bank card, driver's license, medical card, and roadside assistance. Since most wallets have either less than five slots or more than ten, I'm quite at a loss. So when I found this, I had to buy it. It's also light.

9. Car and House Keys.

So, what do you guys carry with you daily? Let me know in the comments below.

What's In My Bag #2

12:42 PM

What's in my bag?  I haven't done one of these posts in a long time.

Since I'm spending the day with Michael today, I decided to change my bag from the very large white one to my black Roxy Tote Bag.  I love large totes since I practically carry the kitchen sink everywhere I go.

The contents of my bag kind of changed since the last time I wrote a "What's in My Bag" post.

  1. Barnes and Noble 16GB Tablet = I have all my books loaded onto this tablet along with movies and games.  I actually can't leave home without it since I tend to get bored a lot.
  2. Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet Charger = I have to have this with me at all times.  I just never know when I'll need it.
  3. JBL Roxy Mic/Headphones = Since it's illegal to use your mobile in California, I carry my mic/headphones and it comes in handy when I need to make a call as well as avoiding getting a bloody ticket from the CHP.
  4. Esprit Sunglasses = I'm light sensitive and therefore need these all the time.
  5. Le Sportsac Makeup Bag = My makeup bag is relatively light since all I keep in it are: Boots Pressed Powder, Boots Lipstick, Burt's Bees Chapstick, Bath & Body antibacterial, VS lotion and some Imitrex for those moments when my migraine just attacks.
  6. iPhone 3GS = I know.  I need an upgrade, but I'm waiting for the iPhone 5 to come out.
  7. Liz Claireborne Wallet = Need I say more?
  8. Filofax Metropol = I cannot absolutely leave home without my Filofax.  It organises everything for me and I can see my schedule instead of having to swipe through my bloody phone for a day in the month.
  9. Pen Case with Pens = I'm a pen-a-holic.  All the colours are in my case along with pencils so i can organise my days in my Filofax better.
  10. Tissue = My grandmum always told me to have tissue on hand because I'll never know when I need it and I do need it a lot during the Spring allergy season.
  11. Hello Kitty Coin Purse = I've accumulated a ton of coins over the years and one of my coin-banks are full.  Michael tells me I have to get rid of those coins.

So, there it is... in a nutshell what I pack into my bag daily.  There are some days that I cram all that and my Mac Pro along with my CSET Exam Prep Book into my tote which makes my bag even heavier as well as wearing down the handles.  I know at some point, my Roxy Tote will finally crack under pressure and I'll have to shell out a few quid for a newer, heavier-duty bag.

It's All About The Citrus!

8:56 PM

It's all about the citrus.

I'm not a big fan of the heavy floral scented soaps as they tend to overload the senses and especially at night when you're trying to wind down from a long day.

My absolute favourite right now is the Bath and Body Works White Citrus Supercharged Body Scrub. it's not the typical mild orange scented body scrub you'd get if you got the drug store version. It has a strong lemon scent and no, it's not reminiscent of the tinned MyShaldan car scents or one of those lemony household cleaners that when you get a whiff of it, it incites that gag reflex. What this body scrub smells like is reminiscent of freshly squeezed lemons.

I absolutely love this scent because it leaves me feeling fresh, clean and relaxed, especially at night before I head off to bed. It's also a pick-me-upper in the morning. The tart scent invades your senses in the morning, wakes you up and gets you semi-going until you get to your morning cup. Plus, the exfoliating beads help shed off dead skin, leaving your skin smooth to the touch.

So, if you're looking for a body scrub that packs a punch, the White Citrus from the Bath & Body Works is your best bet.
